“ Omg, the duck! That was for sure everyone's favorite dish! Eastern Dynasty is located in the same plaza as Jeong Won BBQ & BonChon. Parking anywhere in Convoy is horrible, so just be aware of that. This plaza is no different. There's sooo many stores in this plaza, parking is always a problem. You're better off not even attempting to park anywhere near it. When we arrived at almost 630 PM on a Saturday night, the restaurant was pretty full. I wasn't aware they took reservations, so if you can, make one to guarantee seats. Our party of 5 did get seated right away so that was a plus. They place a teapot on our table as soon as we got seated and we ordered our entrees. We had 2 whole ducks [$35/each] which was to die for. So juicy and the sauce was *chef's kiss* Also had their House Special Fried Rice [$19.95] & came w/veggies and some seafood. Rice was also to die for. Not at all greasy like other Asian places. We also ordered the Soy Sauce Pan Fried Noodles [$16.95] and that was really tasty as well. We ordered something beef dish which was okay, I wouldn't get anything typical like that. Just stick to the duck cause damn it was goood. Refer to the first sentence of this review. Eastern Dynasty is an overall great choice. Just be ready to wait if you don't have a reservation cause lines can get long and the place was clean & tidy, but pretty small. ”

Our go-tos are always the salt & pepper Pork chop ($19), chicken & salty fish fried rice (&18) and house special pepper steak ($23). The white rice is always dry though lol. Pretty small inside but we usually get a table right away around 5PM, and service is friendly ”

“ This is my favorite Cantonese restaurant in San Diego. The inside only has a couple of tables, so it is recommended to come here early for dinner. Service was quick and easy. Would recommend the lobster noodles if you were celebrating something special. Also would recommend the duck! ”

“ Great Chinese food and very busy! The only problem is, the staff don't speak enough English to be able to answer questions about menu items. And, my friends and I are very open to trying different food not the typical popular items such as orange chicken, chow mein and honey walnut shrimp. Not that those aren't delicious. Our server tried to talk us out of some of the dishes we wanted to order. One was pork maw. They ended up being out of it anyway. Another was salty fish with tofu. We ordered that one in spite of our server's concerns and it was delicious! We also had pea pod leaves, Chinese sausage fried rice, beef chow fun and their house special pepper steak. Everything was delicious! Very pleased at how tender the beef was. Will definitely go back! Just took one star off for communication issues and for staff "assuming" that we wouldn't like more authentic dishes. ”

“ First off let me say that the service is great! Usually at Chinese restaurants the service can usually be slim to none but here the tea keeps coming and the servers are so polite. After coming here three times, I can safely say this is my favorite spot. The cuisine is NOT Szechuan so if you're looking for super spicy dishes go elsewhere. So far I've had the duck, noodles, pea leaves, chicken wings and soup. The Westland beef soup was by far my favorite along with the duck of course. My MIL who is a huge critic, even said this is her favorite Chinese. It's not too oily or hardly oily at all and the salt is just right. I think I've convinced my family to come here instead of where we used to go. ”

“ Gosh I've been here several times over the years but never wrote about it. I recently went for a business lunch and had a nice quick meal. It wasn't too busy around 1p on a weekday which surprised me as there used to be a wait and line during lunch hours back in the day. We tried: 3 item bbq plate: - i get weary when the roast duck and chicken are served warm as it's unsure if they use the microwave (hello Sam Woo restaurant) or their meats are served fresher here. The soy sauce chicken was tender, the duck tasted bland. The roast pork was ok Westlake soup: - very good and hearty. Loved the thickness and the cilantro Salt pepper shrimp : - LOVED this dish! The shrimp was plump and the crispy batter so light and flavorful Black bean clams: - nice big clams and others felt the clams tasted fresh Fresh steamed fish (this was expensive) - I can't remember the type of fish but it was live (I think) so the price was high. The fish was tender and well steamed Service was quick and efficient. I didn't pay that day but I think the price was $175(?) or so. The seafood is expensive i was told. I'd return to try more items now that this recent visit was enjoyable. ”

“ Came and tried the Peking duck 2 ways. It was Peking duck with steamed buns. Pretty much on par with other great Peking restaurants. The 2nd way was duck meat with with lettuce wrap. The meat was pretty flavorless. I guess you add hoi sin sauce to flavor it. Could do with more garlic and cumin spice. The garic peashoot leaves could be more seasoned. Overall, pretty good experience. ”
